BA KP Hi 12.1/1b Multilingual Childhoods (in English language) Veranstaltungsdetails
This seminar combines six online lectures with international experts and students from five universities, with face-to-face meetings in Hildesheim focusing on exchange in the group (in English language), to prepare for the international sessions. The seminar connects to a one-week seminar with international guests in April 2025 (summer semester).
In diverse and heterogeneous societies, both migration and multilingualism play a crucial role in children’s language development, learning support, and full integration into ECEC systems. The seminar sheds light on how ECEC institutions deal with children and families from diverse linguistic backgrounds, and what we can learn from one another when supporting the linguistic, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of multilingual learners.
This year’s team includes renowned teachers and experts from Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Switzerland and USA. Participants will benefit from a wide range of contributions from classroom-based approaches to thought-provoking presentations of up-to-date scientific research on multilingual practices across national and international contexts. Breakout rooms and interactive tasks will stimulate dialogue among students and teachers.
For the face-to-face meetings in Hildesheim, students will read and prepare English journal articles for discussion. Main focus will be exchange of ideas and joint discussion. It is not necessary to speak or read English well – but you should be willing to talk and argue even if you are not sure about the right words for questions and arguments. We will learn from each other!

BA S Hi/S18/4a German Social Department Stores Veranstaltungsdetails
Welcome.
We are glad you are interested in this seminar.

Social department stores are shops that sell second hand goods on a social basis / social price.
Very often they are called charity shops as well.

We want to work on the following questions together:
Why do social department stores exist?
What goals and functions do social department stores fulfil?
What different types of shops are there that sell second hand social?

My goal is to show you the entire social institution in which the “store” is embedded and to give you the opportunity to get YOUR questions answered with social workers, managers and employees on site!

According to current plans, we will visit social department stores in Hildesheim, Hanover, Laatzen, Wunstorf, Stadthagen and Nienburg and hold discussions on site.

Please be prepared:
We will start early and will not be back in Hildesheim until around 6 p.m. / 7 p.m during the three days (Mon., Tue., Wed.)

I have been to more than 60 social department stores in recent years and have had discussions on site.
